Back to my earlier comment, the smelter will bring C1 costs down to $1.2/lbs. This does not include any reduction achieved by the rail line. We know logistic costs are (cumulatively) 30% of the overall amount. Unless I am missing something, this means the new C1 number should hover around $1.0/lbs, maybe a tad higher. Absolutely mind boggling!!

And forgot to mention the discount on the hydro bill we will get after stabilizing the grid and pumping in hundreds of millions... that could push the C1 figure below$1.0/lbs. don't know the exact parameters, but would be an interesting question on the next conference call.

There is also the sale of by-product sulphuric acid from the smelter which will gap-down the cash cost 10 or 15 cents more and below a dollar to possibly a .8 handle. I came across this article on the state-of-the-art sulphuric acid plant they are building into the smelter.  Every aspect of this mine is top-notch.  They forecast production of 650-800K tonnes of sulpuric acid annually ...more
