Ivanhoe's silence is deafening!
It's no secret that southern Africa in general and Zambia in particular will have a growing deficit in electricity, producing competing interests within that country itself. Who’s to say the Zambian government will send 24/7 power to Ivanhoe when its own population has power for a few hours a day, or a couple days a week.
A continuation of climate change denial won’t supply a single kilowatt and any reliance upon a “new diesel generator” saving the day is problematic. First you must order the generator, build the unit, have it disassembled, shipped to Africa, reassembled, and given a shake-down run. Then all you need is a steady 400 mile line of diesel trucks or rail cars to supply the juice. The delivery has to be reliable as the Postman i.e. neither wind nor rain, nor flood or armed insurgency can delay the fuel to the generator- OR YOU HAVE TO SHUT DOWN THE PLANT.
Now I don’t know what going to happen, unfortunately neither does anyone else. I can see the developments on the ground, but have no grasp of the ability for Ivanhoe to continue operations if Zambia withholds its power. If anyone on this board feels they have a plan to address this most critical issue, please share it with all of us.

Excellent post 1student.. thanks for stepping in with facts.. there's obviously more than 1 way to supply electricity to a mine.. and for fogbrain to think its going to be supplied by 1 generator is ludicrous to say the least.. LMAO..!

Bogfit, I am going to leave you with the following reiteration of the facts. "As I told everybody here long ago, Robert M. Friedland already has the electrical energy supply side of the equation for all Ivanhoe Mines Limited projects covered. Robert M. Friedland invariably tends to see the solutions when all you see is problems. Thanks for coming out. As you were.
