Wow ! That was gobbledygook.  Let me try again - What conclusion should we draw from IVN flat and copper up 2%? b.

Freeport is up close to 3%. It seems that IVN pricing often incorporates news on a lag..a fact that I have taken advantage of on multiple occasions

"It seems that IVN pricing often incorporates news on a lag.." Hmm?  Have you a explanation on why that is?  Noticed SSCO also up 3.45%.  That's quite a divergence. b

My guess would be that IVN is still a quite underfollowed stock compared to the bigger miners.

FM is down over 4% but I suspect much of that has to do with Cobra Panama.  Why hasn't ZESCO notified Ivanhoe on future electricity deliveries? "Due to a National Emergency in Zambia, in response to a drought aggravated by El Nio, ZESCO revealed a plan to reduce power supply to the mining sector over the period from May 1, 2024 to December 31, 2024. First Quantum received a force ...more

ya, i don't know who wrote the original post, but the headline is pretty much the dumbest thing I've read in a while.   Too funny.  Stock is up 60% in 4 months and hit an ATM today and someone is calling out stock performance mid day. lol
Comment by bogfit on Apr 29, 2024 1:38pm
"someone is calling out stock performance mid day."   Because that is often when the first indication of a price trend change occuring, during the session.  Why do do you think they always include the disclaimer that “past performance is no guarantee of future success”?   b.

Ya...earnings due tomorrow. Maybe a lot holding out buying until numbers released ?
Comment by bogfit on Apr 29, 2024 3:20pm
"Maybe a lot holding out buying until numbers released ?"   Could be!  But of course, after the numbers are out the market will have already moved whichever direction the results indicated. b.

While I agree that we should mostly focus on the long-term, short-term patterns or discrepancies (like the one here) can create opportunities for arbitrage so are not irrelevant for investors that want to play that game. So, not dumb, just a different (and much more risky) game

Flipping for pennies and jumping in and out as some have tried to " mastermind the market" has had hilarious results here.  Most that have preached it are long gone, or came back under new names because they have looked like fools.  In the end, it doesn't really matter.  The smart ones that have let the company do its magic have made the real wealth.  To each his ...more

"The smart ones that have let the company do its magic have made the real wealth. "   As far as IVN is concerned perhaps, but for what its worth, last three months, POG + 15.8%, HUI + 21.81%, and yours truly +36%.   b.

"can create opportunities for arbitrage "   It can, but IMO it is important to move to a non-similar issue – moving from a producer to an ETF.  i.e. GATO to SLV when anticipating a drop in the price of silver.   b.
