Trumps looking like a lock, What is the GOP 2024 platform?

# 15 CANCEL THE ELECTRIC VEHICLE MANDATE

Economy is now slowing expectations in copper must come down? Today was the first day of the Trump trade , copper down 1.5% , Bitcoin ripping higher.

Trump wants -  reshoring of industry,  reduced registration,  domestic growth,  Increased oil drilling & nat gas exports,  Reduced federal government,  controlled immigration,  tax reductions,  crypto of course,  Defence and infrastructure SPENDING.  He picked J D Vance which will give hints of the direction for reshoring industries, ...more

Cryptocurrencies:   Likely reason crypto jumped on the belief Trump will win a second term in November:   From Marketwatch:   Trump has promoted cryptocurrency on the campaign trail and is set to speak at the Bitcoin Conference in Nashville later this month.   Trump does not like the existence of the FED in its current form (mainly because it's an ...more

"so I suspect he thinks crypto is a way of weakening the FED's control" It's much easier than that. There are about 50 million crypto voters, and he noticed that the Democrats were turning them away. So, he told them what they wanted to hear. A lot of campaign money also came with that, as crypto backers donate to support pro-crypto candidates.

As usual your arguments are weak. So, we make more Bitcoin. Last I heard it requires prodigious amounts of electricity and thus copper. Bring it on. US demand for copper will be an also ran compared to the rest of the world. But you should provide your analysis to all the experts whose giant companies depend on getting this right. Then they can relax about smelter charges, new mines and the rest ...more

Regardless of Trump some states like California will keep their electric vehicle mandate in place and use additional copper.  Onshoring, infrastructural and military spending will require copper, nickel and other raw materials Ivanhoe mines.  Yes there will be bumps in the road as plans are put out and changed however Ivanhoe has a great future.  Please note that the Federal ...more

I could be wrong of course, but what I find misguided is the apparent assumption that modest changes in USA copper demand will significantly affect the balance of global copper supply/demand. The USA is a declining force, although still a major one, economically and militarily. All around the world people take note of the changes. I am reminded of the classic saying, 'the dogs bark but the ...more

"The world’s single biggest buyer of copper, State Grid Corp. of China, has slowed its purchases of copper wire this year, while at the same time ramping up purchases of aluminum wire, a cheaper substitute. While arguably a natural response to soaring copper prices, the change has ignited a debate over whether there’s something bigger going on"

this may be part of the puzzle,  https://sagezander.com/carbon-fibre-core-overhead-power-line-accc-hvcrc/ China is also going to 1 million volt transmission system note; US transformer mfg are going full bore, the grid in the US is being upgraded for EV use.

Thanks. This idea has been around for a long time and at the current price differential Cu is preferred overwhelmingly. That might change. The article is long on opinion and short on hard numbers. I'll try and find some relevant info this weekend. You would have to imagine that if an abundant and significantly cheaper alternative was really a good choice it would take some of the market, but ...more

OK, although this links to a physics article ( journal abstract) it is theoretical research using computational methods to suggest avenues to explore how to make aluminum more conductive. I'd place this idea in the same list as room temperature superconductors and fusion reactors. Might be a bit unfair of me. More useful at helping scientists get tenure than at providing workable answers for ...more

All noise, also platreef opening at a theater near you soon. Drill results in coming, kipushi officially selling. Future is bright. Holding since 2015 and only post when the winds of fear are in the air. I can smell that fear creeping in and my spidy senses start tingling looking for opportunities to add- I shall do so with options out to 2026 as the premiums cool off  glta lohcod

Agree that mass production of aluminum that is much more conductive is not imminent, but the key finding of these researchers IMO was that aluminum can be altered at the atomic level to significantly increase its conductivity, potentially making it even more enticing as an aternative to copper. For example, one of the issues with the EVs currently being manufactured is the amount of copper ...more
