Wow, someone sold 2 million oz in the afternoon to drive gold prices down - BIG bet ahead of Friday ! While the talking heads are saying profit-taking, I see it more like a 1 time event. Maybe someone bet they would either get no shutdown or good economic numbers this morning?? If so, they are 0 for 1 (manf & housing numbers were very weak today) I personally think the 3% talk is just that . .talk - not that strong. The shorts will no doubt jump on yesterdays big late drop and do their usual AM short selling, but based on early am trading gold keeps recovering and going higher (Still very strong) Today's economic numbers were weak, the dollar is falling again and the Friday is coming. The close on Friday should be really interesting. What do you guys think? Are we going to get a govt shutdown?

Govt Shutdown historically has been a non-event under a Republican President.  There are 4 times under democrats where it lasted over 2 weeks each.  Twice under Carter, once under Clinton (longest) and once under Obama.   When there is a Republican President usually the majority of other shutdowns lasted 1 to 2 days at best.  The Republicans control all three sides of Govt
