Where's The Dividend Increase ???

Just read the Jan.2023 Investor Presentation, and feeling a little cranky !  Once again the charts & slides refer to regular dividend growth, but next month marks 3.5 YEARS since the last increase - August 2019. We continually hear things like (1) positive tailwinds bode well for us   (2) with the increase in cash flow from KAPS, there will be a bump in the divvy    (3) our infrastructure / facilities are unique and would be difficult to replicate.    Yes, KEY is paying a decent divvy, but I always find that aspect of the presentations to be misleading.

Although I am a bit grumpy about the lack of dividend increases too, I have been patient while KAPS has been under construction, and even added a few more shares to my holdings (which still exceed the sum total of the shares held by their Board, excluding Dean and Jim). However, I think that now they absolutely have to deliver given the imminent completion of KAPS and what they have suggested to ...more

Good post...agree we're overdue for an update from Mgmnt.  One of my investment criteria is insiders being onside and buying on the public market to prove money meets mouth, per se Not the case here as much as we'd like at this stage of KAPS With the amount of shares you mention holding, you should show up at the AGM or Investor call to put forward such questioning. I dumped Pembina ...more

Thanks. Its good to keep an eye in insider ownership and will be checking their filing to see what they have added when it comes out. I think that Jim and Dean have good-sized positions but the rest of the Board could do better. I appreciate the suggestion, however I prefer to stay anonymous for now, but their IR team is free to print off comments and share them with their Board as an example of ...more

From January 4 2023 KEY share price at $ 28,65 and now trading at $ 31,70 for a + $ 3,65 gain or 13 % in less than 2mweeks. KEK is also one of the highest dividend on the TSE and you still want more !So on Jan 4 yield was 6,7 % and now 6,05 %. So far ,Q3 2022  FR show a 58 % payout ratio and KAP contribution should bring some dividend increase but at the moment KEY look to me a super ...more

If they increase their dividend and yield goes up then you are suggesting that their share price would not increase. I don't agree with that outlook, and in fact think the opposite, that it would probably lead to the biggest pop they have seen in years. Their yield likely goes down after that. And from your perspective of cap gains, is probably the best thing you could hope for. Dividend ...more

'''...you are suggesting that their share price would not increase '' On the contrary what I'm saying:'' a super performer and actual dividend is OK for me and prefer a share price increase to $ 35 later on in 2023.and by this time I will be out because I bought 3 months ago at the $ 28 level . So for now, it is a + 12.5 %or $ 3,50 and a 3 months div ...more
