A fascinating evidence search for "Who really ows America's Gold" (Part 1) ... from the documentation Mike downloads from the GAO (Government Accountability Office, who investigate federal spending and performance.  
  You may recall, about a decade ago, the former head of the GAO publicly revealed that the total debt of the U.S.A., including unfunded liabilites was over $220 Trillion. That was well before many many more trillions of debt were added)

Even the GAO appears to struggle with what they see, as some identical gold holding values are assigned to both the Treasury, and to the Fed.  This is entertaining, albeit, problematic.

Entertaining …..& brings more light to reasons for de-basing gold price (in 1973) from US dollar. The ‘adjustable’ price of gold allows Feds to use gold in possession of Federal government to justify the size of deficit…(?). I realize that there is way more to it than that….which is beyond my comprehension but still entertaining & food for thought. I still would like to see physical gold ...more
