Omicron will fizzle the pandemic

very fast infection rates and mostly mild outcomes means this disease is phasing out. Spanish flu essentially had the same path. Great news for PNG as it means delays and expense should moderate enormously. This is very timely as K92 ramps up production.

I think you're right about given phase out of COVID. In South Africa, where the Omnicrom variant started, it was shown to be highly contagious but the peak to trough contagion time period was only 45 days. The obvious concern as that the Omnicrom would have affected PNG more recently thus affecting production in December and as we speak. KNT has said nothing recently regarding COVID but they ...more

Don't speak too soon.  We will not know whether Covid-19 will take the same path until it has actually happened. New variants of concern that are more vaccine resistant and more lethal are still a possibility. Oilsyd.

Yes, a new varient can show up any day, or not show up at all. But as they say "it ain't over until the fat lady sings" There has now been a case of mutual infection, where one person is infected by both the Delta and the Omnicron varients at the same time.
