My terminology

By shorting LBS i am not always referring to shortsellers.
If i sell LBS out some  of my holdings , i am shorting it, ( decreasing my holding) and hoping to buy back cheaper.  The  only difference is i am not trying to borrow shares  to shortsell and pay interest on them.
I know there isnt a huge short position in LBS , at least according to the TSX numbers.
But it did go up last report.

I think looking at what a short contract is you are selling a stock at today's price if the stock drops to your short price at which point you would buy . Am i incorrect ? I don't really play options . But if that's an elementary understanding I would say selling today and looking for a cheaper buy back in on the same stock is a short play.

Please give that one a rest.  It is NOT shorting, no more than it is picking bananas.

Well then the process by which you sell at a high price and plan buy back in at a lower price could be potentially lowering the price then . Can't call it just selling as you plan to buy back in .

From Investopedia:  "Short selling occurs when an investor borrows a security and sells it on the open market, planning to buy it back later for less money." If you buy shares in a stock, you are 'long'. If you sell shares in a stock you do not own, but are only borrowing, you are 'short'. If you buy shares to sell very quickly (ie. time-frame of minutes), or ...more
