VRFB News: Invinity Sells 2.07 MwH V Batteries

VRFB News: Invinity Sells 2.07 MwH V Batteries

On June 1st 2023 Invinity said it has sold nine 2.07 megawatt-hour vanadium flow batteries. Delivery of the batteries is expected in the first half of 2024 or less than 12 months away.

In Comparison:

In Q2-21 Largo announced its first sale contract of a 5 hour 6.1 MWh VRFB. The delivery is expected in Q2-23 or about 24 months later.
On Aug 1 st 2022 Largo announced the signing of a Non-Binding MOU with Ansaldo Green Tech to Negotiate the Formation of a Joint Venture for the Manufacturing and Commercial Deployment of VRFBs in the European, African, and Middle East Power Generation Markets. Ten months later there is still no update. Without this joint venture LCE is going nowhere. This speaks volumes about management's inability to deliver anything on schedule or at all.

Excerpt

Invinity Energy Systems said Thursday it has sold nine 2.07 megawatt-hour vanadium flow batteries to Orcas Power and Light Cooperative for use in a solar-plus-storage project.

The London-listed battery manufacturer said the batteries will be installed alongside a 2.75 megawatt peak solar array on San Juan Island, Washington. The batteries will be used to store excess solar generation which can then be discharged on-demand to support the local grid and enhance energy security on the island.

Delivery of the batteries is expected in the first half of 2024, Invinity said.

"We hope this project will be the first of many with cooperative utilities like OPALCO who together provide power to 42 million Americans," Chief Commercial Officer Matt Harper said.
