some thoughts

no rant-i promise but a few observations...
no doubt about it,solo kicked it for the consumer (in alberta) this winter but i still suspect they did it on old inventory and will have to pay the piper some day.yes, sales will be soft in alberta-maybe alaska-but hopefully made up for in bc and the states.this could be a good time for liq to rationalize in alberta and scoop some competition but i don't know if that's on the radar when focus has been on us.sell kentucky.....look at amayas problems there to wonder if it's worth it.if cruz is still around liq will get dragged into caucus debates for sure (no-i am not hammered).
speaking of which, glad i enjoy a whiskey and not a big fat one because i spent some time reading the info circular and annual report from last year.near as i can tell, bonus is calculated on divvy and tsr so that might be a hint as to the sustainability of the status quo.i figure current divvy 70/30 for a month yet and then all bets are off, especially since fearless leader passed the buck to the board.
by the bye-chairman pulls a cool 120 k for the title.now that's old school mr. dinning...
still can't figure why there is no insider buying unless there is some kind of extended black-out or a corporate bylaw tied to rights somewhere.
still, the brass gets paid enough to spend a little time on investor relations.
last but not least-still a mil or so short but down substantionally from the fall.guess they're sitting on the fence too and glad it seems the original position(s) was opportunist and not directed.
cheers all

Hell! LIQ could buy Rocky Mountain Liquor right now for about $3M, (perhaps $5M with a premium) and gain 46 Liquor Stores in Alberta tomorrow. But I don't think this is there plan. From what I have been reading it seems like LIQ has fallen into love with the large-format stores, and if the grow in Alberta I think they will go that route. I don't know why you don't like Kentucky? Last ...more

Yes! It may not be such a bad idea for LIQ to cherry pick RUM right now. RUM also took a big hit at the end of last year to the tune of 300% Drop. Rocky Mountain Liquor (RUM) has a Market Capital of $3.135M right now so with a premium you could buy it for $4.9M no problem. But the company also has $4.9M in bank debt and a further Debt of $9.2M in Convertible Debentures. So to buy out RUM the ...more

Just a FYI, according to the RUM webpage they have 43 stores in Alberta not 42.
