50% Share buy in Option

I am assuming if I want to take advantage of the discount shares at 50% price if " xyz happens" than today or tuesday is the day to buy in..

The record date is as of May 28,but trades sometimes take 2 or 3 days to settle AND isn't it a holiday in the US this weekend? Memorial Day. May 27. Monday. So today might be the very latest or too late already?
