EQUITY RESEARCH
February 15, 2022 Flash Research
MAVERIX METALS INC.

2021 Ends With Record Quarterly Sales

Maverix Metals delivered strong Q4/21 sales results and ended the year with a total of just over 32,000 GEO sold, above the revised guidance and CIBCe of 31,000oz. In 2021 the company remained active on the acquisition front, completing three transactions which included the acquisition of Pan American’s royalty portfolio, the Omolon royalty expansion and the Auramet strategic partnership and gold stream. For 2022E, we estimate GEO sales of ~34.5k, ~8% higher than 2021FY GEO sales, largely driven by Auramet, Omolon, and Camino Rojo, which recently achieved its first gold pour in Q4/21 and is now ramping up to commercial production.

Maverix continues to maintain its strong balance sheet and we estimate
~$160M in total liquidity. With a robust liquidity position, we expect Maverix will continue to focus on cash flowing royalties and streams for its next acquisitions.

Key Points
Record Quarterly Sales. Maverix Metals reported attributable sales of
~9,000 gold equivalent ounces (GEO), a quarterly record and higher than our Q4/21 estimate of 8,340oz. Fourth-quarter results took annual sales to just over 32,000oz, exceeding the company’s revised 2021 guidance of 31,000oz (increased from 27,000-30,000oz in November 2021) and CIBCe of 31,200oz. Street consensus for 2021 was at 31,000 GEO. The full-year results were also a record, and a ~3% increase over the company’s 2020 sales of ~31,000oz.

Dividend. Along with the Q4/21 sales, the company announced its quarterly cash dividend of $0.0125/share, which is to be paid on or about March 15, 2022.

Notable Asset Updates. Recent updates from assets in Maverix’s portfolio
include the Kone feasibility study (FS) and Karora’s 2022 outlook.
Kone (4% of Asset NAV): Montage Gold recently reported results from the
Kone FS which featured a +200koz/year gold mining operation with ~15-year mine life. Maverix holds a 2% NSR royalty on the project.

Beta Hunt (5% of Asset NAV): Karora Resources reported its 2022 outlook
which included consolidated gold production guidance of 110k-135koz and
its inaugural nickel production guidance of 450-550 tonnes from Beta Hunt. Maverix holds a 3.25% gross revenue royalty and 1.5% net smelter return royalty for gold and 1.5% NSR royalty for nickel at Beta Hunt.
