Curse. There will be no shuffleboard due to potential environmental hazards of plastic cutlery which may injure senior citizens at the concession stand.  That pathetic white plastic cutlery you get at every takeout — is it a world hazard? Must be so. One-time Greenpeace protest performer, now a cabinet minister in the Canadian federal government, Steven Guilbeault, has declared it is ...more

All part if the big picture - if you don't understand now you never will. Plastic plastic everywhere. Humans can't be relied upon to recycle properly or stop discarding their waste plastic. A beach in Europe recently, all I saw were plastic utensils, tampax holders and plastic straws. The world is one huge dumping ground. Don't know if you travel much, if you do you shouldn't be ...more

If you're short of plastic utensils just take a swin in the Pacific.

You are right.  There is NO problem with plastic in Canada.  People simply don't throw utensils into the ocean.  I do realize that in Africa and South America, throwing garbage is a common occurence. Plastic is hygienic and practical.  There is NO reason to banning straws, cups, plates, etc.  In the age of viruses, I would not trust food courts to have clean metal ...more

Just bring your own small swivel camping knife and fork. Ain't going to kill you, just a little more effort. The east coast misses most of the garbage due to prevailing currents, the West coast doesn't. Plastic is pass.

Ninelives. We all want what you want. The message I posted is lack of leardership in Canada. We have lost so much in Canada being nice guys while othe countries have no regards to the envioronment and what you see. I know! I serviced the resource sector. We are doing our best. Yet our government is questionable? No disrespect to anyone. We are paying the price for Canada being a yes man Mr J.T. is ...more

I totally agree.  Plastic is for the lazy.   Re-usable containers.  it's not rocket science.  i've hated bottled water forever - both for waste and stupid cost.  Most of the stuff one puts in the recycling ends up in the dump...and a lot of that is because they don't educate people on what should be put in bin or what contanimates or impossible to separate ...more
