Several years ago Paul Zimnisky stated that DeBeers entry into the synthetic diamond market was a strategy designed to protect their natural diamond business.  Exactly, what is it that  you are trying to say?

When he said that , Debeers were starting light speed and were suppose todabble in the low end diamond market equivalent to costume jewelry. The just increase the playing field to one and two carat diamonds, which is going to tap the engagement ring market. It doesn't sound good to me. I think they see a future in manmade daimonds. since it is vey hard to tell the difference. They can be ...more

You may be right, however, the price you indicate is less than a $1000/carat when several years ago synthetic  diamonds were going for considerably higher.   Natural diamonds maintain 50% (or more) of their value on the re-sale  market.  Synthetic ones are hard to sell at any price on the re-sale maket.  I still believe that DeBeers, amongst others, are protecting ...more
