Melcor - Will this be going private ?

This company has been buying back stock , recently had a dividend increase that it did not draw anyones attention to and the Housing Markets in Calgary , Edmonton and Kelowna are pretty hot. This stock seems to be off everyones radar even though the tailwinds are blowing .

Little chance of going private.  With NAV well north of $30 per share, it would take an offer over twice the current share price to gain approval from a majority of minority shareholders.  Approval even at that price level is questionable, considering the vast land assets held on the books at their original purchase price from decades ago.  Anyway, why would the Meltons go to so ...more

Good points.  For what my opinion is worth I agree with you.  There is a case to be made for private and there is a case to be made for public.  I beleive the company stays public, however people vastly smarter (doesn't take much...) than I am think it will go private.  If anyone is interested I can do my best to break down the case for each scenario and some math behind ...more
