I'm Out

Was online for their presentation last night and just watched the interview on bnn.  It was a hard thing for me to do because I liked the stock and the previous years stock prices seemed to make you think it was going back up with a  juicy yeild.  But I am out for the pure fact that nat gas is at 2.69!!!  I would love to hold on for longer and wait for a takeout which I think will happen but you can't be in this sort of stock with nat gas so low.  GLTA.

You may have sold prematurely. If you look around at all the companies that are an oil and gas makeup. All their guidance for 2012 indicates that none of them are planning on drilling for pure naturasl gas. NAE is going to be 50/50 by the end of this year. So they mantain their Boe at 28000 and make a tonne more cash as they expand their oil production. Dividend is sustainable at ...more

I could have sold to early... and I still think there could be upside.  I just can't afford that risk on one company I think a better play for it would be maybe the Horizions HEE.  People have been saying  Nat Gas has been going higher for the last 10 years and I was one.  I think it will take too long for the infrastructure for canada to export lng. it's too far ...more

strapper, love the reit idea.  they (+ the daylight takeover) have powered my portfolio to a nice gain in 2011.  alot of reits are trading near their highs for the year but their distributions are still very attractive. I have a little hee (as well as hex and hep) and hate it.  I think those products capture all the downside and give you only a fraction of the upside. they've ...more

Thanks for the info.  I checked out HEE last night and it pretty much comes down to them having the most liquid stocks (easier to write the call options).  So they have great winners and losers all because of the disconnect between nat gas and oil.  Look an Encana.  I am basically out of the oil and gas sector until I get some more clarity on how things will play out.  ...more

strapper, i messed up my message previously.  I meant to say only 2 of the 15 stocks hep held were underperforming the etf (not outperforming as I mentioned).  And most of the 13 stocks that were in hep and were outperforming the etf and were doing so by a wide margin, in my opinion.   good luck with your future investments.
