Two millions shares were shorted during November before OPEC annoncement. Probably more shares were shorted this week to keep price down this week.

thanks you for the timely info looking at a net house report for the same 11.15-11.30 time frame you can clearly see that Morgan Stanly -618K Anonymous -428K Instinet -130K Goldman Sachs -128K were responsible for the majority of the short. The very interesting part is that over the run of the past two days, Morgan Stanly -600 Anonymous -83K Instinet +18K Goldman Sachs -500 have not participated

VIENNA — OPEC has persuaded 11 non-member countries to cut their oil production in an attempt to raise low prices that have put pressure on government finances in resource-dependent countries. Qatari Energy Minister Mohammed bin Saleh al-Sada said Saturday that non-members agreed to cut 558,000 barrels per day, less than the 600,000 OPEC had hoped for.
