The opportunity:
You will be an integral part of the LFP (lithium iron phosphate cathode) team in creating the infrastructure to make the LFP a world-class reference in the field of batteries. Under the guidance of the LFP Marketing Consultant, you will be responsible for defining a new or modified process formulation to manufacture a high-quality cathode material for lithium-ion batteries. You will optimize and improve existing processes, products, and project plans by interacting with the internal team based on customer feedback. In addition, you will set up and implement a new product introduction plan.
Core Duties and Responsibilities:
- Implement a process of introducing new products, based on the APQP automotive approach;
- Organize and direct efforts to achieve profitability and improve product quality by implementing methods such as voice of the customer, FMEA-product and process (analysis of failure modes, effects and criticality) and others;
- Possess the process control plan;
- Build a strategic approach to the competitive environment of LFP's emerging production processes;
- Work with the project team to develop requirements for all unit operations. Plan and implement the scaling up of existing and new processes;
- Develop a strategy to build a local process development team to align with Nano One's expected growth;
- Provide leadership and mentorship to the process team;
- Provide technical expertise on key process operations;
- Support the operation of the pilot plant;
- Provide information to feed into business models.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in physics, chemistry, materials science or chemical engineering. A master's or doctoral degree would be preferable;
- Ten (10) years of experience in process development in a high-tech environment. Experience in the field of battery materials desired;
- Fluency in English and French;
- Business acumen and comprehensive understanding of the lithium-ion battery supply chain;
- Proven leadership ability in innovation and application;
- Experience in scaling complex chemical processes is preferred;
- Team spirit, motivated and quick to adapt to change;
- Knowledge of the automotive approach to product development and associated quality requirements is preferred;
- Ability to travel locally and internationally.

The Opportunity:
You will play an integral part of the LFP (Lithium iron phosphate cathode) team in creating the infrastructure to make LFP a world-class benchmark in the battery space. Under the direction of the LFP Commercialisation advisor, you will be responsible in defining new or modified process formulation to manufacture high quality LFP for lithium-ion batteries. You will optimize and improve existing processes, product, and project plans by interfacing with the internal team based on customers' feedback. Additionally, you will set up and implement a New Product Introduction plan.
Essential functions and responsibilities:
- Implement New Product Introduction process, based on the automotive APQP approach
- Organise and lead efforts to achieve cost effectiveness and improve product quality by implementing methods such as Voice of Customer, product & process FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) and others
- Own the process Control Plan
- Build a strategic approach regarding the competitive landscape for emerging processes to produce LFP
- Work with the Project team to develop the requirements for all unit ops. Plan and implement the development of new and existing scale-up process formulas
- Develop a strategy to build a local process development team to align with the projected growth of Nano One. Ensure processes and designs are compatible
- Provide leadership and mentorship to the process team
- Provide technical expertise on key process unit operations
- Support the operation of the pilot-plant
- Provide information to feed the economical models
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in physics, chemistry, materials science, or chemical engineering. Masters or PHD would be preferred
- Ten (10) years of process development experience in a high-tech environment. Experience in the battery materials space is a must
- Fluent in both English and French.
- Strong business acumen and big picture understanding of the lithium-ion battery supply chain
- Proven leadership ability in innovation and application
- Experience with scaling-up complex chemical processes is preferred
- Team player, motivated and quick to adapt to change
- Knowledge of the automotive product development approach and quality requirements is preferred
- Ability to travel locally and internationally
