Collaboration between Nano One Materials & Tesla? YES! It's amazing how emphatically and frequently the participants Lawisfun, Urallsheep, Teccing ... posts things that are beyond any probability.
Here are the two patents again for comparison:
1) 2018: Nano One Materials
Status: Active (US, JP, CH)
Status: Pending (CA, EP, ...)

2) 2020: Springpower International
Status: Pending
Not active: KR WO EP CN US JP

What does Nano One Materials do? You can't say it often enough!
"We license the 'ready-made package' to other players so that they do not have to spend years developing their own processes," says Dr. Stephen Campbell, Chief Technology Officer at Nano One.

A: Are the two procedures mutually exclusive?
Who can say for sure? None, because it is very likely that different aspects of the respective technologies can be linked together.
B: The procedures are mutually exclusive
Assuming that were the case, what would that mean for Tesla?
1) They would have to test this technology for years like Nano One Materials did. So about 10 years! Charging and discharging batteries doesn't work any faster with Tesla!
https://nanoone.ca/news/news-releases/perfect-lithium-files-key-lithium-ion-battery-material-patents/
2) If we had used proprietary chemistry typical of Tesla, it might have been a little quicker. But for this you would have to have had a corresponding strategy very early on.
Tesla has purchased batteries from Panasonic for years, since 2013. Springpower? Did they exist back then?
https://www.tesla.com/de_de/blog/panasonic-and-tesla-reach-agreement-expand-supply-automotivegrade-battery-cells
2) So they couldn't have started until 2021. The patents are not active to this day (see above)

3) Tesla may want to offer its cathode manufacturing process to other manufacturers. But how is that supposed to work, please? To do this you would have to work with them now! Do you have this one process with the super cathode for all APPLICATIONS (solid-state, NMC, LFP, LMNO, NCA, SIB, ...)? Very, very likely not! And who should they work with? With GM? With Ford? No!
But maybe with VW? An early consortium member of Nano One Materials!

“As communicated previously,” Mr. Blondal added, “Nano One is engaged with Pulead Technology and Saint-Gobain and we are pleased to announce that Volkswagen Group Research will join our consortium as a project contributor. Details on the other two project contributors remain confidential. We are inspired to be working with such accomplished global leaders and look forward to accelerating our activities with the support of SDTC.”

Amazingly, VW held its own "Battery Day" that was very, very similar to Tesla's. Or?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l6T9xIeZTds
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQZ8KmCItF8
Even the definition of the corresponding battery chemistries was almost the same: NMC, LMNO, LFP
Amazing, amazing?
4) So who has been researching a green, high-performance, revolutionary cathode manufacturing process for a variety of applications and for many companies for almost a decade???
Nano One Materials .... as the ONLY company with this approach! "Changing how THE WORLD makes battery materials". Everyone else... 6K Energy, Novonix, Springpower International... came much later!
C: Tesla's cathode factory
It is more than likely that technology from Nano One Materials is also used there, but in a Tesla specific form! Under the very realistic assumption of a long-term research collaboration (who would Nano One Materials have turned to first with its "novel process" back then?), this can absolutely be expected.

Let's take a look at the "old" infographics. Every presentation since then has been reminiscent of Tesla's Model S!
https://nanoone.ca/technology/cathodes-infographic/
At the time, Ms. Hamutal Ben Bassat expressly liked and welcomed the announcement of the cathode factory on Twitter.
A nice gesture among competitors. Or?
Here, for the first time, the technology from Nano One Materials is being applied specifically to Tesla, just as in Salzgitter the technology from Nano One Materials is also being applied specifically to VW.
Tesla & VW are both partners of Nano One Materials. With a similar battery strategy.

https://seekingalpha.com/article/4291405-teslas-million-mile-battery
Both develop their battery processes in-house in cooperation with Nano One Materials.

@Lawisfun: Please hold back a bit in your contributions! You have no idea about the company's long-term development. And this wasn't just a "red day" for Nano One Materials today but for the entire sector (Tesla, Piedmont Lithium, QuantumScape, Albermale, Umicore, LAC, Patriot Battery Metals... except for Sumitomo Metal Mining!) :) )

Who is this for?
These are absolute purchase prices, and commercialization can and must be taken into account at any time!!!!
