Plausible explanation of selloff: Canadia Capital Gains Tax

We have seen a massive selloff in many Canadian companies owing to the rollout of the new Canadian capital gains tax rates (which I believe were just rolled out).

It is plausible that this recent selloff of Nano One stock was owing to investors who wanted to avoid getting hit with the significantly increased capital gains taxes.

If so, then this period is in fact an excellent opportunity to accumulate.  Not sure if this is the actual reason behind the selloff.  But would be a fantastic explanation if true.

Okay this theory is busted.  Here is the problem with this theory: "The Canada Revenue Agency’s position is that a capital gain is considered realized on the settlement date, not trade date.  On May 27, 2024, Canada adopted a T+1 settlement, meaning that trades on exchanges for stocks, mutual funds, exchange traded funds (ETFs), and bonds now settle within one business day.
