"Financial Engineering"

This morning I received an invitation to vote at Nickel Creek's 2024 Annual and Special Meeting.  A quick look at their meeting materials revealed their main concern is NOT how to move the project forward or what they might accomplish this year during the accessible summer season in the Yukon but financial engineering of the share price.  
"At the Meeting, Shareholders will be asked to consider, and if deemed advisable, approve an ordinary resolution authorizing the Board of Directors, in its discretion, to complete a Share consolidation on an up to 200:1 basis, with any precise consolidation ratio to be determined by the Board."
Yup, share consolidation so they can have room to yet again erode the price.

A stock split (whether regular or reverse) is in theory a maneuver that has zero effect to the price of the stock.  If a company has bright prospects, it usually amounts to nothing other than a gimmick to somehow "enhance the prospects for shareholder value".  If a company is engaging in a reverse split to mask poor financial performance (i. e. a slow slide into bankruptcy ...more

I know all of that but never the less, there is a much higher price target to even "break even" for those who got caught with the falling price that happened a while back. They wipe out the little guy with a hundred thousan shares by for example the 200:1 being reduced to 500 shares. What is the value of those shares? Yes, still the same value but selling them even"break even" ...more

I'm not worried, I continue to accumulate whilst the share price is near the bottom.  If Electrum were a producer, then I would be leery as they own 40% of the shares.  Electrum is an investor, albeit an institutional one.  They have the same goals as you and I have:  to develop Nickel Shaw and make it appealing as possible to potential suitors who need to replace ounces ...more
