it sure is. But look at it this way, barrick has warren buffet, a previous gold bear, investing in the company. Barrick needs Northern dynasty approved to bring in the needed infrastructure to effectively mine their Donlin property. When these guys talk people listen. Just my guess.

Just playing Devils advocate here but why do you think Donlin needs Pebble in order to be an effective mining play? I get the synergies argument as they are relatively proximate and could increase margins by sharing a pipeline and power infrastructure but with Donlin at better than 2 g/t for 45mm ozs translating to $120/ton rock do you not think that it could pull off a stand alone operation? donlin should of been producing years ago if it would of been financially prudent .the fact buffet, a well known gold bear did a 180 tells me barrick has plans for the whole area but needs the infrastructure. I,m. Thinking they will set up something using taxpayer money, of course, to revitalize the whole area under the guise of national security or some such.
