Facebook to take out NLN ????

Jim Cramer on CNBC just went thru a long discussion about Facebook trying to get a deal with the NFL for the rights to stream around the world. Wonder who Facebook with take out like its a drop in a bucket?

Whether this means added competition, or a potential acquisition down the road.. is kind of a moot point. Anything could happen and we'll unlikely guess it right. It does mean one thing though. More and more companies are showing an interest in streaming and distribution rights for sports, and Neulion is the best established player with a great track record and piling positive news. Asked and answered by NLN... Facebook is looking to buy the streaming rights for the Thursday night game to put in its OTT service.    Its focused on the U.S. market.    Our NFL Game Pass service is focused on the international market which includes Canada.   At this time we are not in discussions with Facebook about doing the streaming for them.   If Facebook ...more

Great news! Only Thursday night games. LOL  I suspect its their trial period that if successful it could lead into a need for more NFL content by Facebook. Others like ESPN, Yahoo, etc may have the same need for content and raise the bid.

He didn't get into the rights (which they certainly require), just talked in detail as to how big of a market Facebook could reach with NFL games in China, etc. Streaming is the growth area of online sports.
