Infrastructure Gridlock

Canadian Climate Institute report — called The Big Switch, Powering Canada's Net Zero Future — relies on multiple studies that show electrical demand will be double or triple what it is today by 2050. As much as 75 per cent of that additional power will need to come from wind and solar, if Canada is to meet its climate goals.

Sheesh!  Three days to charge a Chevy Volt!!!!   This stipulation that the federal gov.should bring the premiers into a room and use its spending powers to reach  its policy objectives has a dubious history.  Given our current crew I can imagine how the PM would be able to sway Legault, Kenney, Ford etc into submission.  But miracles are always possible. Just ...more

There's an excellent article in the New Yorker magazine by John Seabrook , January 31,2022 called Green Giants ( at least in the print edition, sometimes different titles in electronic edition). I don't think widespread adoption will be easy especially in cold remote areas of Canada ( much of the country).
