Alvarez ... re "Freedom"

I believe you missed the Democracy 101 class  ...

Everyone in our Democratic society is FREE to speak out and peacefully protest politicians and governments in ways that it doesn't cause harm to others.  We are also all FREE to run for office ourselves or support those who we'd like to see in decision making positions.

NO ONE  is FREE to cause economic damage to society or willfully hurt others through their actions as the blockade of truckers is doing.  That is called anarchy - we have jails for those.

Border protests may end, but the lasting damage to Canada’s economy has already been done

Restrictions have gone on long enough, our gov't isn't listening. Protest all you want........no big deal.......with our present gov't, they still won't listen unless they are being inconvenienced or impacted in some way. This is not just about vaccines. Perhaps next time , this may serve as a gentle reminder to future gov't to think before they decide to shove more mandates ...more

Many Canadians and business are now hostages from their actions.  Long overdue for the Feds to invoke the Emergencies Act.

What is the purpose of "Defacing the War Memorial" The lost soldier represents the lives lost so we have Freedom. Yes we have a right to protest with out violence and no harm to others. The Redeau centre has been closed for 17 days losing millions of dollars of revenue daily. Why should the tenants there have to lose their income over the protestors issues. If it wasen't for our Vets ...more

I feel like a lot of you get your "news" from cbc or global - extreme left wing bias even ctv can't call the story straight.  Get a sense of what is happening from average people that are on the ground there.  This is most certainly about our freedom from a grossly, ever, over reaching government.

I agree. I'm fairly liberal but the time is soon/now to end the restrictions. GL

That depends on public opinion. The government (municipal, provincial, and federal) could stop the protesters but have failed to do so.  Some citing that they didn't want violence on the streets and blood on the police's hands (Windsor Police Chief) while others wanted to first read how the public would react. The bottom line is that the protest represents a very large umbrella. You ...more

Back in 1977. my wife was expecting our first child. AT about 2 weeks prior to term, we went for the afternoon to visit my parents who had recently moved into an appartment on Pine Street in Montreal. Also living on Pine Street was PET. to make a long story short. we had to park our car in a public lot below and walk up a long flight of wooden stairs to get to my parents place.
