I think it would be telling to see if RSI actually touches 50 before MACD turns around.

50 RSI on daily chart is short term reversal territory, if it slides lower it would confirm my speculation that larger picture XLE is showing energy due to pullback / bearish and nimble traders will be short or on sidelines.
