My guess is it gets upward analyst revisions next Thursday before the market starts. The unknown exec share based performace bonus charge is unlikely to factor into analyst models that will be updated on Wednesday. Without the performance bonus charge, this would be a no brainer buy at these prices.   ex-share price performance charge funds flow is likely to be 50% more than the prior ...more

Quick question why does everyone assume that OBE will go the dividend route? Have they publicly stated this...vs a dividend... With there shares trading fairly undervalued to peers even would they not be inclined to purchase back shares in the short term, which would also help management with shareprice performance bonus for themselves? Just some random thoughts...Im impartial on buybacks and ...more

1.  They have mentioned starting a dividend 2.   It is what the market wants - returning money to shareholders rather than expanded growth. 3.   A dividend on OBE will have a bigger share price impact than buying back shares.   The low number of shares outstanding present an unusual opportunity for OBE to give a dividend that would be 10% or more of the ...more

Again Im impartial to the dividend vs buyback...personally I prefer a combination of both. Dividend usualyl can give that quick shareprice pop...5% yield equivalent I doubt for a small cap oil sector company...Im guessing 10-12% yield will be what companies trade at. But that still leaves oppurtunity for a quick pop in shareprice..great if plans to sell company in the next year. But if looking ...more

I agree. Obsidian is undervalued, and if management wants to do the best by long-term shareholders, they should buy a dollar for a quarter. That means a buyback. Right now, I would like to see 20% on growth, 40% on buyback, and 40% on debt repayment. They should not pay a dividend IMO until OBE is >$20 a share and debt is below $200M. Once it gets closer to fair value, then put in the dividend ...more

They   want  to  do  the best  for  themselves  .  The  market  has figured   that  out  ---that   is  why   the    shares    are  lagging.

How so? If you are going to provide a blanket "thesis" on why management is doing poorly inregards to the shareholders, then at least provide a link or some form of evidence.  I am way too old to waste my time reading BS posts.  Mas

They  may be doing well , however if  investors  sense they  are  overpaid , they  may choose  to simply  buy  other  comparable  stocks  , resulting    in lagging stock performance . Awhile  ago  I  surmised  Surge  energy  stock price   would  surpass  OBEs.   It ...more

You must be kidding. Yes the gap has narrowed, after that 8-1 reverse split by sgy LOL!

It was 8.5 to 1 for surge.  and two all-share takovers to buy debt free companies so they could "deleverage" Awful management.  some decent acreage but how can you trust this team to develop it.    they should rename the company from Surge to Stall.  traded it three times this past year and was always happier to sell it.
