Viking

Starting up Viking tells me Loukas is window dressing his baby for an m&a type of event later this yr or early next yr. Loukas wants to get back to the east coast USA and manage front four.

I was not a fan of the viking announcement but then did the math and the wells will have an IP 30 of about $130,000.00 per day - that puts payout at around 4 months.  Or maybe they are just dressing up the viking asset for a sale?

I think they have higher IRR projects but they are not available due to spring break up. Their choice was drill some pretty good IRR wells or sit on their hands. Some would argue that sitting on their hands and paying down some debt is a good idea but actually it's not even close in terms of value to shareholders. Secondly they recognize that availability of rigs, supplies and crews is a huge ...more

Also interesting. Saturn oil just bought some Viking production (4k boe for $260m) so m&a there is a great sign.I think the seller was CPG. Maybe Loukas is doing some window dressing to sell of the Viking asset in the future.

Is it CPG?  It could be potentially Whitecap as well. Those viking assets must be under watererflood to get that type of price.  Sask viking is better then in Alberta.. It is encouraging considering how bad the M&A market valuations have been....but in 2013-2014...Sask Viking would sell for 90-95k per flowing barrel. quote=arnolddiver]Also interesting.
