Banks paid out with term debt

Another   interpretation   could  be  the  company  maintained poor   relations  with  its  bank   lenders   with   the  end   result   costing   the  company   as   cheaper  bank  financing  is   paid  off  with   high   cost    term   loan(s)  .

The banks are extremely difficult for this sector due to their ESG demands. No one I have talked to in the industry has a good relationship with the conventional financial institutions because this sector is the enemy of their ESG guidelines. We are very fortunate to have Gord Ritchie as our Board Chairman because as retired COO of Royal Bank he has done influence with the banks that others lack ...more

From a cost/bennefit basis, the ESG matter is highly positive for oil and gas producers. It is is presenting a major barrior to entry. It limits increased oil production, so keeps oil prices high. It has almost no cost - other than increased borrowing costs.   (These can be reduced or eliminated by restructuring or paying off debt), and by requiring companies to hire an ESG public ...more
