How Much Longer

Will OBE be in penalty box. Almost a 30% drop since Q3 reported erasing over $300 million in EV and yet still continuing to underperform the sector day after day.

Ultimately if we don't get our value through a rebound in the stock price, it will come to us through dividends and stock buybacks and the rearing that comes from those programs. Could still be six-12 months away. OBE is one of the best performers this year even at recent prices. Just gives an opportunity for those who missed out on this gem to get in.

Take a look at the chart for ERF.  It pays a dividend and does a share buy back.  Compare the chart to OBE.

This is why WCP and CPG are a dollar higher in share price and we're $2 lower than OBE 6 weeks ago. Being low volume is a curse right now but when it turns the torque is amazing. The less liquidity the bigger the hurt (BNE may be the cheapest stock of all). I ...more

ERF today, is a good example of what to expect from OBE tomorrow (well mid next year). ERF has similar Funds flow per share to OBE, but ERF is $24/share, vs $9.67 for OBE. The difference is that ERF is a little further down the debt repayment ladder.    ERF has reached that point where it is using much of its free cash flow to return to shareholders (in share buy backs and a small ...more

Tough to say when, but easy to say what: OBE trading well under 2 x '23 CF at this point, growing production (only 23%, vs 26%, the horror) and reducing debt in an environment when competitors are breaking even on production and trading at 4 x CF.  So what is a massive revluation in price.  I'm here until what. When? Well, that depends on the macro vibe.  I suppose ...more
