Market Cap

Currently values production at about $17k/barrel.

Tax pools greater than current debt.

An attractive buyout candidate here?

Maybe that is why Loukas moved shares to an American brokerage.  The plan was always to sell OBE once they met producton targets and the stock price elevated.  Could be after five years they just want to move on.  If OBE rebounds to $8 U.S. a $10 share offer be accepted?

I originlly supported Loukas becoming CEO because I believed as  an activist hedge fund owner he would sell the company after a relatively short time as is the customary procedure for activist hedge funds ala Carl Icahn. But Loukas and his partners destroyed their hedge fund having had more than 200 million under management in 2019 to almost nothing now. This is why in my opinion Loukas chose ...more

Here is the thing, SLwas installed to position OBE for a future transaction. The oil in place was always there. The Pennwest fiasco brought consideral baggage to the newco. SL is a financial engineer and not an  "oil guy" but is surrounded by guys who buy and large are executing on a strategy to maxmize a sale going forward. This has clearly taken longer than expected and IF they do ...more

You are correct Loukas is a financial engineer who engineered the destruction of his own hedge fund Front Four from 200 million dollars under management to about 26 million now. His latest venture these past 5 years has kept Obsidian Energy a penny stock. As for the execution of his crack staff as you put it,well they have managed to miss every projection Loukas makes by a lot. But don't worry ...more

Just to clarify I am not anti Obe as the pumpers and spinners on this post want to define me. To the contrary as an obe shareholder, I would love to see Obe stock rise at least to a fair market value. I am in the camp that Loukas is nothing more than a failed hedge fund owner with no experience as a Ceo of an oil company who is failing in that experimental role as well. He needs to be replaced so ...more
