Orvana tailings reprocessing at EMIPA Bolivia

At one point Orvana suggested the company would consider reprocessing the tailings at their EMIPA/Bolivian operation, to extend the life of the milling operation, once they completed processing the oxide stockpile.  Has anyone seen an estimate of the tonnes of tailing that could be treated, the Au/Cu/Zn/Ag grade of the tailings and what sort of percent recovery would be possible, on reprocessing the tailings?

Thanks for directing me to your previous post.  It would be interesting to see if there was any recoverable copper in the tailings, given copper is trading at over $4.00 a pound.

Kiln, To answer your question, the total tailings accumulated at the Don Mario tailings dam total 6.7 million metric tons grading 0.715 g/t gold, 0.5 percent copper, 0.8 percent zinc, and  15 g/t silver. At a processing rate of 2500 tpd, the OSP plant could operate for another 7.5 years after the 3 year end of life of the 2 million ton oxide stockpile, so processing tailings for the next 10 ...more

The unit operating in the Dan Mario Oxide project economic analysis (December 2020) are estimated at US$93 per tonne. Would the cost of processing the tailings be similar?

Kiln, No. I expect the cost of the tailings recovery project at Don Mario to be similar to Parral's cost of around $18.69 USD per ton or tailings stacked on the heap leach.  Using Parral's target recoveries of 65 percent for gold, 58 percent for silver, and 45 percent for copper, the tailings recovery plant at Don Mario should produce around 6500 ounces of gold per quarter, 125,000 ...more
