rere:@nd.quarter divivdend....

according to company policy the dividend is a variable which they adjust ...

I would say enjoy the boost while they see fit, then expect a return to 2.40/a which is not too shabby...IMO

I was expecting a more positive response in trading today from yesterday's news...anybody have any thoughts on the negative SP today so far ....???

Housing starts in the US are slowing. BBB

The market sees this stock has highly cyclical. In the last cycle some investors got surprised at how fast it went down. As such investors are nervous. IN my opinion the industry has since rationalized and consequently the existing players are much stronger. OSB has surfaced as a clear winner. Also I think investors are a bit spooked by housing starts. I remain long.

All CAPS and your mis-spelling makes you look somewhat moronic (friendly advise) Earning per share was $1.92 Div per share was $4.50 This was a one off gift to shareholders, its unsustainable going forward.  I still dont quite understand why it was soooo big but I'll take it thanks.
Comment by Stooge on Aug 10, 2018 10:47am
It is not a gift to shareholders. It is already ours.... in the stock price ... and that price will drop $4.50 ex-dividend.
Comment by rollon on Aug 10, 2018 8:25pm
It's free cash flow. $1.92 included depreciation etc which are non cash items.
Comment by PoorOpinion on Aug 16, 2018 12:49pm
Fine cash flow was $2.89 per share. $4.50 div is still unsustainable.

Yes but you have to factor in Capital projects completed that dont repeat etc. Also OSB has a dividend policy as it relates to cash on the balance sheet. At any rate this is a one time deal and t will not repeat. Cheers

Come on guys, read the presser.  It's a special div.  It's not regular.  It's a one time payment to keep the balance sheet from becoming inefficient as they gear up to pivot to Vietnam in a few years. Good companies return cash in lumps as needed.  They can afford the reg. div on a long term basis, but of course not the spec. div.
Comment by biggerr on Aug 20, 2018 1:39pm
if it's a special divi the company has to declare it and explain for what reason, it looks like they just took it out from their regular earnings. If they reduce it too much next Q the SP could crash and they don't want to do it, right?
Comment by biggerr on Aug 13, 2018 4:23pm
how can $4.50 be in the stock price if the SP is the same as when the divi was announced
Comment by biggerr on Aug 13, 2018 4:28pm
also the SP drops by the amount of the divi if it's a one-time divi but this will be a recurring divi every 3 months
