it may

it may take few months for the market to realize the true winners coming out of biden presidency, ng may be the biggest winner. For the time, all oil and gas stocks are moving almost in tandem to each other, and xl pipeline suspension was already on the cards, and it has no impact for ng.

It definitely does. It takes away a major demand source from the WCSB which is SAGD and Cogeneration. If oil production plans for Alberta take a hit, then SAGD and industrial electricity demand for NG go down. Rail isn't economic unless there is a big discount for WCS and that is terrible for Canada as a whole.   In addition it will reduce the supply of oil from Canada to the US ...more

We will need to take a show me the money approach. Line3 sound see a Dakota access type event, or Enbridge could run into trouble with Line 5/michigan. That would net out the effect of L3, as the Michigan governor ripped the L5 easement for political reasons across the Striat of Mackinac. TMX is another one, I am surprised that the started in Alberta and Rural BC instead of doing the Burnaby Tank ...more

Hey Yasch, Well see my other post, but until it's flowing and out of court; lots can change. TMX with all the cost overruns, delays and profit-sharing agreements are going to push tariffs above shipping to Texas. It will provide egress but was spreads may only get down to $10-12. Well the Canadian part of KXL is getting built right now, so maybe TC and Kenney can get creative on how to utilize ...more

Yasch, I lightened up significantly here at $4. All of the weather models have turned, and pretty soon weather is going to be written off as a non-factor until summer. LNG demand is also starting to look like we will end up with excess by mid-year. NYMEX forward curve has dropped significantly over the last couple days and may test $2.20-2.40, but the market is shrugging it off on the equity side ...more

That's fine. I may be wrong. I may pay more to buy them back, or I may get more shares for free. For me this is a prudent risk based approach. The question I had for you, is if this was such a slam dunk no risk play.; Why did you wait until it hit resistance at a new 52Wk high and falling gas prices to buy in?
Comment by shenty46 on Jan 20, 2021 3:05pm
Because it was actually the most correct time to buy, However as you said I may also be wrong.

Restoring Nat Gas and Crude production to pre covid levels will require mountains of investment capital, something the industry will not have until commodity prices remain high for a long time  I doubt bankers will want to chime in and I am absolutely sure Government won't either.
