CCS

Anyone here with knowledge or expertise in CCS ? It seems to be attracting investor attention for Advantage. Since Peyto is long in gas plant ownership, it should have a lot of potential !!
As I understand it , capturing CO2 from combustion gases is hardly new technology, but presumably Entropy has come up with some significant improvements. Also , I presume the captured CO2 can be readily sequestered. If the process can make money at $50 per ton , then it should be very profitable at $170 per ton. Similarly, it seems a good use of excess FCF without causing overproduction or hitting pipeline constraints . What info I know came from  Boereport.com

The system that AAV developed appears to be quite novel. It is sequestering the carbon PRE-combustion, which I think means they are converting to hydrogen gas before burning it in there plants. This is quite different then the previous process of using amines to scavenge CO2 from the exhaust. Prior to this release, it was thought that CCS would require very high carbon pricing to make sense. If ...more

What I think is novel here is that they are storing it in brine resevoirs, as what I believe is a liquid. They are not storing CO2, as it is pre-combustion. They are stripping the carbon off so there is nothing to form CO2 when it burns. If it is a liquid, should be similar is costs to pumping disposal water ($2-3/ton). The importance of liquid phase is that does a couple things, first is ...more

I hope it has little to do with hydrogen. This says: Innovative post-combustion carbon capture design https://entropyinc.com/ And then you have this news release: https://www.ngif.ca/ngif-capital-corporation-announces-35m-cleantech-venture-fund-for-canadas-natural-gas-sector/ Close to zero emissions natural gas used as a feedstock in close to zero emissions efficient and reliable ...more

Yeah you are right. The pre combustion talk went out the window.  No I am more curious on how they are doing it. There are certainly a lack of details, but it must be far away from the typical amine solution. Either way investors look like they are flocking.
