PEY and FRU Have Exactly The Same Market Cap at 2.56B

PEY's dividend rate should be roughly equal to that of FRU. Exciting!!

Careful.     Different business models, debt levels and objectives.    Peyto team confident but may have overshot the landing but hiking dividend too much, too early.    I say this as someone who endorses the company, have owned it myself and bought it for others.     The dividend does not build the value of their shares, it is the financial ...more

Different business model indeed. Peyto BOD had different options before increasing dividends from $100m/y to $225m/y. 1 - Reduce debt 2 - Normal Course Issuer Bid 3 - Increase Capex. Increasing dividends was probably the worse decision. Using the extra cash flows to reduce debt and buying back shares would have been the optimal option. Not very often does a public company have the combination ...more

I suspect that past and present management of this company want to maintain share positions to generate a large income.  Unless you sell your shares you don't really get that money out and if the price tanks as has happened then your options are less. On the other hand management is paying down debt, slower than some would probably like maybe but they feel with hedges it can be paid down ...more

Respect that. Canada positioned to make a difference globally by shipping LNG to Asia, help them to replace thermal coal plants with Natgas plants. Reduce emissions from Coal fired generators by maybe 50-60%. Canada does not have an emissions problem. The Far East has a population problem. All roads lead to the true question:  What is a sustainable population number for the ...more

One thing that I have failed to emphasize , is the growing development of ammonia as a carbon free combustible fuel . Since Ammonia  can be produced from either nat gas or blue hydrogen , and since its storage and transportation is less costly than LNG or hydrogen, it is very interesting as a fuel for those parts of the globe dependent on Nat gas imports. The article below is sort of a primer ...more

Ammonia is as much a fuel as it is a stable delivery host for hydrogen energy.  The very best combustion methods is to crack the nitrogen out of the ammonia and combust the pure hydrogen on its own.  A fuel that you refered to as a joke. Making ammonia from hydrogen is an easy process given the abundance of nitrogen in the atmosphere and can be a green process if done with electricity ...more

Ammonia enables efficient, low-cost transport and storage of hydrogen. In addition to this role as an energy carrier, it can also be used directly as a fuel in thermal power generation. As a fuel that does not emit carbon dioxide when burned, ammonia is expected to offer great advantages in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, the companies said. A typical modern ammonia-producing plant first ...more

As a fuel that does not emit carbon dioxide when burned, ammonia is expected to offer great advantages in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, the companies said. It does however produce considerable amounts of NOx which makes it a step backwards. Chemical companies smell an opportunity. Several firms are developing green ammonia, a route to ammonia in which hydrogen derived from water ...more
