PIF

The steady decline in Polaris' share price is due to the fact that all of the countries where the assets are located have precarious governments that citizens are contesting. In short, investing in unstable countries, despite the company's good results, is always a high risk. Personally, I have abstained so far. There is a good chance that the stock will fall below $10 if things don't improve.

Well said. Doing great things in tricky jurisdictions ( bad neighbourhoods) means you get judged for where you're doing them, not what you achieve.

This is the obvious concern. The market may well be discounting PIF in proportion with the amount of turmoil 'reported' in latin america. However, this is not a new concern, and, if anything, PIF has diversified, and continues to diversify, and the political instability where they operate does not seem to have affected their results thus far. I'm not saying their facilities could never ...more

I think that the low valuation multiple assigned to PIF is less about the possibility of nationalization and more about the risk of escalating sanctions against persons and organizations in or associated with the Ortega regime in Nicaragua. Ortega has been making lots of hard currency (ie USD) by exploiting the country's gold resources. He's also getting very chummy with Russia. PIF is ...more

I think its mostly related to renewable energy being out of favor.. All related stocks have tanked?
