Share Price is Dropping because Performance Sucks

You don't need to look real deep on this. Parkland's performance sucks, while its competitors contiue to grow and prosper. Acquisitions have not been accretive, outlets are actually selling less on a same store basis. etc. Gas is not the money maker but fillups is what brings people in to the store where the real money is made. If less people use your stations your results suffer and that is what is happening to Parkland. They have been rding Alementation CT's coat tails and got way over priced based on their actual performance. The other issue is, they are doing nothing to get ready for the move to electric vehicles, won't happen over night but it willl happen over time. How do you get the EV drivers into your stores. The share price will continue to drop until it aligns with current performance.

Red Deer - If you don't know who their competitors are why would you actually own the stock. To the rest, debt has gone from 1.76 Billion in 2016 to 6.8 billion now. Debt to non-current assets is almost 1 to 1 at .94/1, which ios really high leverage. Sales have gone from 6.3 to 14.0 and have been flat for 3 years while expenses keep growing. I don't see this turning around quickly.

It actually was nothing personal against PKI but was totally because it no longer fit into our plans of holding only 5 TSX sectors - banks, utilities, midstream, telcos, and REITs. More luck than anything on the selling timing but we'll

Good to hear from you too Sarge. I sold off my PK when it hit $40 this spring. I got in when it was heavily discouinted in 2020, about $28 average, but it just got too far ahead of its fundmentals and it was clear that valuation would not hold longer term.  I too hold no pure renewable plays. They are far ahead of their actual performance and it will be a long time before performance

Hey Dean  Fantastic post and so cool to see how in sync we are. I always knew we thought a lot a like but this is great stuff. I am totally shocked by how blind and swept away most people seem to be about climate change and thinking renewables and de-carbonizing is the answer. Like you say, a lot of "hair" on them and as you say so much of them are non-recyclable and those blades

They need to have a policy that trims the executives bonus and salary when the SP growth falls below their industry peers. Should be in all companies.
