PNE: flatlining

Most posters are very positie on PNE. I, for one was attracted to the divvy. But what I do not understand is that, in spite of Phil H's optimism this stock has flatlined for too long, My undestanding is that PNE's life with current assets is approx. 12 years  I'm thinking that this is a reason for the "'world" to not be rushing to purchase PNE shares. Or maybe it's the general populace still enamoured with ESG, albeit the glow from that orb is fading...unless they use cash to expand production assets/capabilities, there is a finite period for PNE's existence.. What am I missing here?

To the best of my knowledge, I think your 12 years (average of 6 wells/yr) of drilling is correct to maintain current production. I believe they also only drilled 6 wells in 2022. The wells drilled were just to maintain production and also get some benefical boost from some new oil wells. Average Production has grown 14% in 2022... because they took a wheelbarrow of cash (20 million) from their ...more

This is what some people call "mail box income". If someone paid 7-14 cents for a lot of stock in 2019-2020 and then rode it up in 2021-22... bought a car and house with the profits. In 2023 the remaining stock pays for property tax, house operating costs. The residual income stream could last decades. If the stock runs up and yield goes down... sell the stock for the Capital Gain. If ...more

Here's what your missing parcheg , Two most inportant facts winter hasn't showed up and stayed and freeport lng didn't come back in Nov and it's Jan . Those two things should come back soon  and gas prices will spike . Now in the meantime PNE is sitting on $60 mil and we're getting 8% dividend . If you bought in for a quick buck i say hold on it's comming this winter ...more

Fwiw, here's my take... Having taken a small position... 25000 shares at $0.29 p/s... the presesnt dividend of $0.13 annually, gives me a very high percentage yield of ~45%. It would be insane for me to divest at this time. I'm sure you are already aware of this, but I'll just point out a few things on the plus side that make PNE very attractive. * Debt free. * Cash balance is ~$44M ...more

I now consider myself more than a bit well informed on PNE status. Thanks to the responses on my post, I really appreciate it. GLTA

In my experience here at SH, the PNE forum is one ofthe better ones for posters wanting to offer a variety of facts and opinions. Commenters like skylar, snowshoe, retiredcf, plus a few others, always seem to present in a sensible and sane manner. Glad to hear the info presented was useful... were you convinced to hang on as a shareholder, lol. Cheers!

Zack In spite of the overall enthusiasm on this board, and in answer to your question: ("...convinced to hang on as  shreholder"), the answer is  no In spite of the more than reasonable yield, the stock is not flatlining but, rather, as the liear regression shows, a defiite decline and resulting erosion of book value. Greener pastures elsewhere, I believe. GLTA

Yes, PNE's share price has been on the decline lately... but no doubt, as Philip Hodge recently stated, the weather related downward pressure on natural gas and the Freeport LNG facility being offline have had a lot to do with that. It's also important to note that PNE sells 90% of its gas in Western Canada and presently storage levels in Alberta are well below 5-year levels. The drop in ...more

I think zack50 nailed it. The only other thing I can think of is that perhaps our PR team needs to be a bit more proactive. We have coverage from some of the smaller firms (eg. Haywood & Stifel) but their targets are now 6 months old and there's not yet any coverage from the major banks. As for BNN coverage, the company was last spoken about by Eric Nuttall......... but that was 5 ...more
