Pou sold 2.5 million of their 40 million shares of nuvista for average price of 11.09.

I guess they plan to keep the proceeds and not give it out to shareholders. Otherwise, a Nuvsta stock dividend would have been a lot more tax benificial to POU shareholders.

Please explain why? If they gave out the Nuvista shares as a special dividend, then the recceiver of the nuvista shares could keep them if they wished and let the share price grow with no immediate tax implications. If they give the proceeds of these shares out then there is dividend tax as income. Fairly certain i have that correct.

My point being, one would think if POU planned to give out some of their nuvista holdings as a special dividend, one would think they would reward their loyal shareholders the option to not be taxed out of the gate from the dividend in 2021. Now, on the other hand, maybe they wanted to keep some cash from the Nuvista holdings and sold the shares at a good price, and still may plan to give out ...more
