Paramount Resources Ltd > NG pricing is KILLING POU......

NG pricing is KILLING POU......

And anyone else who is heavily weighted towards this valuable but extremely cheap (tight now!) commodity. Aside from that, the rest in th report was rather OK. The BIGGER problem here ffor Paramount, aside from the dismal NG prices is SIZE & investor's perceptions. In the grande scheme of things, Paramount is rather small potatoes, a small fish in a rather large ocean with VERY big intimidating sharks, where investor who go fishing don't really give a rat's behind to invest/take a risk in Paramount or be part of POU's world. THIS is the problem here.....going forward.

And let's be frank here, it's not that Paramount's stock hasn't performed well in retrospect compared to some other failures like Birchcliff or Pipestone (RIP ole friend!), its that folks EXPECTED more from them on a different scale. This is where Pou mgmt/bod erred. Instead of playing footsy or the "waiting" game being to cautious, these guys should have been more proactive, more agressive on the M&A side of things.....and started to supersize them for the future. But they failed big time on that front. Hopefully, 2024 will be different and Pou mgmt/bod will realize the error of their ways. At the very least, the very easy low hanging fruit here, they should have made some "efforts" to consumate a  deal with their sister company Nuvista by merging with them. where they STILL hold a VERY "meaningful" interest.

I don't know what their state of mind, plans or objectives are for 2024 & beyond, but "getting bigger" OR getting out should be one of their top priorities. Becasue if you don't have size for a North American produver, espescially for ALL those little Canadian minows all still swimming around up there, then you don't matter to the market or VIP investors. And by suze my friends, i mean at the VERY bare minimum of 100-150k of boepd. And unfortunately, POU is just a tad short of that target ......for now! Hopefully these "got it" or will get it and they'll make more inteliigent for themselves, the company & their s/h.......

I like the way you described NG as cheap yet valuable. As far as POU being a small fish, that may be true. But ARC which is about 4x the size of POU, MV wise, is rumored to be a takover target based on the Reuters article. I don't have any idea whether POU or T. ARX has the larger land package in the desired areas or what their respective resource estimates are for comparison. As regards the ...more

"I like the way you described NG as cheap yet valuable." I think is a fairly, accurate assessment of the commodity as well. Cheap because it was rendered to this point, not by an act of God or the false assumption of "warm winters lol" but rather by the powers the be, that control the world's paper markets to accomplish TWO very critical objectives. To starve Russia of ...more

POU is really a private company, and they only report enough to satisfy the markets. (Insiders own 46%) Embedded Value not Recognized, you can't measure POU on the basis of Producion only. The have one of the largest land bases in the industry, and is working in the background on land deals continually, they only disclose when they have to and this quarter they disclosed 10 additional ...more

I keep trying to uncover pertinent info about POU for comparison sake. As you (MHP) suggest, a lot of info is not disclosed unless required. After doing a little research, it appears that Paramount has about twice as much prospective acreage as ARC in the desired areas. That seems to be pretty much discounted as far as market cap is concerned. I'd be curious as to how much acreage is contained ...more

"After doing a little research, it appears that Paramount has about twice as much prospective acreage as ARC in the desired areas. That seems to be pretty much discounted as far as market cap is concerned." Of course it's discounted, but the market & investors DOES NOT really care. Undevelopped land & a HUGE resource with along RL aren't what the market likes. Yjis isn ...more

mrmomo, Maybe you should call those 4 financial reporters from Reuters and explain to them why they are so off base. All I was doing was to try and pass along what appeared to be some valid info that has the potential to affect Paramount's fortunes. I will admit you seem to be quite knowledgeable about what is going on in the Canadian oil and gas industry. I guess I just have difficulty ...more

"Maybe you should call those 4 financial reporters from Reuters and explain to them why they are so off base." The LAST people you should be listening to or putting any faith or credibility in ......ARE the financial, reporters, brokers AND especially THOSE analysts.......putting an empahsis on the first 4 letters of the last. These are the same folks that were saying "everything ...more
