Brookfield buy PPL

Is that a possibility?

Now they they collected up IPL, is there any thought that PPL may be on the chopping block, and Brookfield may want to acquire?

IMHO

In one word, NO

Pretty unlikely, IPL was just severely underpriced because of the misjudgment the market had on the Heartland project. So Brookfield swooped in and got it at a very significant discount. It's fairly unlikely that they want to keep the business, probably will end up breaking it apart and selling it to various companies. That's just what they do, pick up distressed assets, run it long enough ...more

MyHoneyPot, IMO, there isn't a chance of that happening, that's not in their makeup.  Instead, I think Brookfield would be completely focused getting PPL to purchase the Heartland Complex and some of the other components at an inflated price and at the same time try to retrieve some of the $350 million breakup fee that they incurred.

Doubt it.  If Brookfield buys too many pipeline companies, it might be seen as anticompetitive and blocked.  Nevertheless, Brookfield issued recently.  They are probably looking to acquire something with the money raised.  I just hope they don't buy anything I'm in.  The usual reasons.

Uhm .. BIPC just went to market with a billion more in shares ... they are buying something, but it won't be their own shares
