Trying to total the cost of this buying binge, i am sure the amount of outstanding shares will double, did anyone do the numbers if we get Inter and Trans mountain? 8-9 billion is not chump change.

Well, IPL has 429mil shares, so at 0.5PPL/IPL that's an extra 214.5mil shares added to PPL. *Not sure about this Trans Mountain deal, maybe somebody else can chime in.* PPL currently has a total of 550mil shares out there now. So with IPL combined there will be 764.5mil shares. Try to look at it as more of 'mergers' as opposed to buy-outs. If the underlying business is sound, and

Thx  Albatross, I guess cash will be used for IPL debt and maybe more shares and cash for mountain,  I think you are right  its a good deal, growing big is where its at .

PPl has a 1 Billion dollar+ share buyback program for more that 27 million PPL shares so if it's fulfilled that would be 737 million shares. Discl: I own IPL. I'm in favor of the PPL/IPL merger.
