why does the closure of a plant due to fire
lead to lower natural gas prices?
this does not make sense to me

Doesn't make sense to me either. It should be the other way around but, I think, its the whole general market decline. The old saying is in effect ---- everything is being thrown out of the bath water. That being said....I bought more PPL today. :)

because produced gas from gas wells have no where to go, producers have to lowered the price to attract other buyers to take the backup gas. Producers will turn off some wells in response of reduced processing capacity and NG price should go back up
