Timing/Trading for Dividends?

Has anyone tried to time the market for collecting dividends that pay quarterly? I mean in the case for PPL, there's not much history since it only started paying dividends quarterly in January 2023. But for other stocks which have been playing quarterly dividends, has anyone been successful? It feels a bit silly to me to hold shares for 90 days to collect dividends once a quarter. -- especially since the stock price mainly trades sideways for a long time. I loved it when PLL paid monthly.

may worth considering since ppl divy now pays out every 3 month.  On montlyly basis, there's less incentive to play this game of hide and seek

I've done that strategy and has worked out well for me for most of the time. You'll see in time that shares will develop a pattern, then you go from there. I try looking at a 3 and a 6 month chart pattern.  You're better off doing that as you can see Pembina shares declining. You'll say to yourself...." what's the point " on holding if your main core holding is ...more
