Rights but no Rights
I am a US Citizen, have been investing in Canadian energy for many years, attended AGM in Calgary and met Mr. Gray many years ago with Peyto.
I held 30K shares of Petrus in one US broker account, Interactive Brokers, and I received into this account 30K rights. In 2 other accounts, my wife's IRA's with TD Ameritrade, collectively held another 20K Petrus. I checked today to exercise rights in TDA accounts, called TDA Reorganization Dept., spoke to brokers and was advised that the rights for the 20K shares(which were held in account prior to assignment date for rights) were not available to me. First I was told that was because I was not a Canadian citizen, but I corrected TDA by advising that shares held at Interactive granted me the rights. Then, I was told that they could not honor my rights in the TDA accounts, that I would have to contact Petrus directly and then Petrus could give TDA 'instructions' to possibly allow me to have claim to these rights, but no promises that TDA would honor. I called Petrus this AM they will have an investor contact person get in touch with me, I was told.
Question; have other US shareholders been able to receive rights with TDA?
I find it curious that Interactive honored the rights offering to my account, but TDA refuses to comply.
Any ideas or comments, thanks to all on forum I follow closely for all my Canadian energy holdings the bullboards and appreciate the insights.
James
