ISTANBUL, April 26, 2017 – Saudi authorities intercepted a vessel loaded with explosives on its way to a fuel terminal owned by Saudi Aramco on Tuesday, the interior ministry reported in a statement to Saudi Press Agency on Wednesday.
The remote-controlled boat, coming from a small island off the Yemeni coast, was brought to a halt on the ocean by fire from Saudi forces. The vessel was aimed at a petroleum products distribution terminal in the southern Jazan region of Saudi Arabia.
Meanwhile, unidentified assailants in Northern Iraq on Wednesday took out a section of an auxiliary pipeline running from the Bai Hassan field to the region’s main storage depot.
“The attack caused a fire and temporarily halted the flow of oil,” Peshmerga Captain Kameran Mahmoud was quoted as saying by Turkey’s Anadolu Agency, adding that flows to the export terminal in Ceyhan were unlikely to be affected."
