Cheap?

I am not an analyst!I have made mistakes in the past investing in companies that I thought were cheap.I currently own a substantial{for me}amount of Parex. If anyone can tell me what I;m missing on Parex, feel free to enlighten me.Q1 earnings were $ 1.29 us.If you annualize that, the stock is trading around 4x taxed earnings.Production was just above 50k b eq/day.Production is 96 percent oil totally unhedged.Year end production is estimated to be>60 k b/d.They are currently buying back 10% of thier shares. If brent trades arourd $98 they should earn around 6.50 us next year assuming no growth above year end estimate of production. That;s just over 3x earnings.Oh!did I mention that they have no debt and about 280 mil. us in cash?Feel really good about this overlooked gem!

I agree, I have held this stock for a long time. It receives no love, I think the biggest reason is they give no business to the investment houses, receives no analyst reports except from RBC, last conference call before this one only had one question rom RBC. Even Eric Nuttal who has been preaching the very things PXT has been doing the last 3 years like, buying back shares , dividends and no ...more

Cibc site has 7 firms giving 33 to 40 with 100% buys I think Nuttall said they're doing everything right but he can do better with North American stocks so he didn't exactly give it a great rating but he also didn't slag it off

You are correct that it's a great stock on paper and in fact most analysts  give it a good rating between 33 to 40. I've got 2000 at 23 so I'm quite happy you might wanna watch BNN where Nuttall comments on it. I think effectively the big issue is that it is in Colombia so you do have political issues on the shares. That said I'm happy so far I just keep a stop loss on it in ...more

Re: PXT  I agree with Sorrenson. I think it is under-valued due to it's location The balance Sheet & Mgt are top notch. L-33

I agree I still think parex should be valued around $4 billion I look at market capitalization if you look at other companies like Baytex the market capitalization is 4 billion but they have lots and lots and lots of debt Parex is buying back shares at 10% per year that should equate to at least $40 a share

So here's a question.  I've hung in multiple times and watched it push up against $30, then take a dive downward, for no good reason, maybe just market sentiment. So here we are once again nearing $30.  Is there anything (other than common sense and huge free cash flow) which will allow PXT to push through and go for higher highs in the next 3-6 months?  I can't quite ...more

I think that this stock will hover around $30 until the results of the June 19th Presidential election in Colombia. If Hernandez wins I believe we have a chance at seeing $35 by the end of the month providing oil trades around current prices.

When the MM's stop keeping the lid on PXT for the BB...watch out this is the cheapest energy stock out there...oh and the small political event in Columbia which will be in the rearview mirror imminently...$50 by EOY.
