Re: new sales jobs posted for torches

Interesting. A couple thoughts:

First, I think a lot of you are misinterpreting what inside sales means. Inside sales is lead generation -— working the phones / email / managing the CRM etc. to drive interest and get / react to leads for the higher touch “outside sales” people who actually do the face-to-face. But no more on that below.

It would concern me if it was just a lead generation person, but also adding a senior sales manager is key. They already have a VP Sales so they are looking to blow out their sales team at the "first touch" level. It’s also specific to “mining and metallurgy”, which while it shows that they're not so well known that companies will just line up to come to them (rarely ever the case), and that they still have to shake the branches for new biz, its a good thing they are dedicating to this -- because it could also indicate that with a torch announcement imminent, they perhaps expect a lot of new initial inquiries, which is what the inside sales and sales manager would handle. People to filter out the real calls from the tire kickers, so to speak, and to ensure the content / presentations / brochures are constantly updated and available with the right material.

Just as important, it suggests to me that Peter (and likely his VP of Sales) has more things to focus on now and needs to free himself a bit from some of the sales responsibility that I’m sure he still handles to some extent.

Peter and his team could easily handle inquiries and sales from company A,B,and C. They actually have ben dealing with all 3 and conducting the modeling. The fact that they find themselves in need of a sales team speaks volumes. The interest coming in is more than they can comfortably handle, and the sales department is the next logical step. This will be huge very quickly. Jmo

I totally agree with this line of thinking, kjs4381... exciting times ahead, not too long now I'm guessing...........
